FAQ

Q: What is barePack and how is Zespri involved?

A: barePack is a community of eco-conscious restaurants and members who pledge to reduce single-use packaging in takeaway and food delivery. barePack has created a pan-city reusable ecosystem, and their service allows Zespri customers to have Kiwifruit packed in reusable boxes.

Zespri is partnering with barePack to trial reusable packaging for designated participants only.

Q: Why should I opt in for barePack reusable containers and how does it help the environment?

A:  barePack's returnable and reusable container system that reduces unnecessary packaging waste. Taking action towards climate change can be as simple as opting in for barePack reusables for your Zespri orders.

Singapore is the world leader in the use of food takeaway and delivery, so it's no surprise that half a billion (473 million) disposable plastic items like takeaway containers are wasted each year - that’s even more than plastic bottles.

A survey that was done in Singapore showed that an extra 1334 tons of plastic waste, equivalent to the weight of 92 double-decker buses, was generated from takeaway and delivery meals during the two-month circuit breaker period of stay-home curbs. It found that the number of meal deliveries shot up by 73 percent during the circuit breaker period. The number of takeaway meals also went up by 18 percent.
