Zero-waste for charity this month

Updated: Jan 30, 2019

Pre-loved goods in need of a new home? Singapore designated 2019 as the year of Zero Waste, so it's never been a better time to donate your unwanted items to a charity AND save the environment.

Every year, over 7 million tonnes of solid waste is generated. To do your part, you can look to reuse, swap or donate your unwanted items. This year, the annual zero-waste initiative by City Developments Limited and Eco-Business called EcoBank is once again collecting used goods which they then sort and sell at the EcoBank Bazaar; the proceeds will go to the Arc Children’s Centre to aid children, and if unsold sent to the Embodhi Foundation.

Last year, the 17.5 tonnes of used goods collected saved the country 7,000 tonnes of carbon emissions!

Until the 28th of January this year, EcoBank will take your books, clothing, electronics, small appliances, accessories and domestic items provided they are in good condition (think "would I buy this or does it look too old, dirty?".

There are 7 locations at which you can take your things across the country. And if you want to be involved, you can find out how to become an EcoBank volunteer here.
